How To Identify Norway Rat Problems

    Norway Rat Description
Norway Rats are larger in size at about 8 ¾ inches with a shorter tail than their body around 7 ½ inches. These rats have long, course fur that is yellow-brown in color with grey bellies. The Norway Rat’s ears are shorter and slightly hairy. Norway Rats are considered to be the most serious pest mammal, causing significant damage to stored grain, spreading disease and damaging structures.

    Norway Rat Habitats
Norway rats can be found throughout the entire U.S. Norway rats are resilient urban survivalist. In the urban setting Norway rats favor wet areas and will nest underground in places like basements, subway stations and sewers. Norway rats will eat mostly grains, seeds, fruit and garbage so it’s likely to find them anywhere there is a human population. Rats invade homes often in the winter and spring, most commonly inside attics, to escape the cold or to nest and raise their young. Norway rat damage is a concern for any homeowner that encounters a rat problem.

    Norway Rat Entry
Rats will burrow underground and generally cause rat damage upon entry and ongoing damage to structures if the rats are not removed. Rat problems also occur when they invade a premise in search of food. Rats feeding in garbage cans and dumpsters and in gardens are common complaints within suburban areas. If you are experiencing a rat problem in your home or place of business, chances are these critters have already established multiple entry points. Our rat removal professionals will assess the problem and take the necessary steps to not only humanely remove the rat or rats from your home or building but also repair damaged areas and reduce the possibility of future rat entry.
